Covid 19

Like many community-based organisations our core activities are postponed until lockdown restrictions are eased.

Thornton Lodge Action Group will redeploy staff, causal workers and volunteers to respond to address the epidemic through the Covid-19 Community Response initiative
The Covid-19 Community Response initiative will provide much-needed care and support for vulnerable people in our community.

As households face exceptional challenges over the coming months Thornton Lodge Action Group will be at hand to support those most vulnerable.

What can the Covid-19 Community Response initiative do for us?

          • • Supply of food/ other items for the most vulnerable people
          • • Provide regular nutritious meals
          • • Provide a food parcel which will last a week
          • • Assign you a dedicated volunteer to ensure health and well-being is maintained
          • • Supply of hand washes
          • • Offer you support to get you connected with Apps that will help you stay in touch with your loved ones

We show appreciation to the funders below but need more financial and in-kind support to keep the Covid-19 Community Response initiative going.

With a high concentration of BME residents in our community (81%), we envisage an increase demand on our services in the coming months.  Early data reveals coronavirus is disproportionately killing ethnic minorities in Britain. A report on the first 3,883 patients critically ill with Covid-19 found that just over a third were non-white, compared with 18 per cent of the total UK population ( Apr 2020, A. Woodcock, The Independent).
